From the Pastor

On Sunday, June 3, we enter into a six-month period of Ordinal or “Ordinary Time” on the liturgical calendar of the church—during which we celebrate all the ways that Christ is with us through the Holy Spirit in the “ordinary” events of our lives.

In worship on Sunday, June 10, we will read from 1 Samuel, Chapter 8, about the pivotal moment in ancient Israel’s history when the people rejected the Lord God from being king over them and cried-out for a human king so they would be like other nations. (Hint: It didn’t turn out the way they were expecting.)

Sunday, June 17, is Vacation Bible School Celebration Sunday and Father’s Day.  The sanctuary will be decorated for this year’s VBS adventure: “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus.”  And the children will lead us in worship as they demonstrate what they have learned about the love of Christ during the preceding week.

And on Sunday, June 24, we will reflect-upon our VBS adventure by studying the text from Mark’s Gospel where Jesus rescues the disciples by preventing their boat from being shipwrecked on the Sea of Galilee.

Everyone is invited  to join me in the office at 6:30 p.m. for the four Wednesdays in June for a study of the Gospel of Mark entitled:

“Walk the Talk”.

As always, what a wonderful time it is to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus at Burgaw Presbyterian Church. Come join us in June!
